Allerca is working to "quot;produce the world's first hypoallergenic cats." It doesn't say if it's doing it via gene modification or selective breeding but it's kind of creepy nonetheless. Seeing as how I know three people who are allergic to cats that have them, it makes more sense to me after an intial WTF.
