Wiki Wiki Wack

For a couple of years now, I’ve kept a personal wiki on PBWiki. It’s mainly for commands that I always forget and it has served me well. But they recently changed it so you are forced to use their WSIWYG editor and it’s been driving me nuts. From their PBWiki 2.0 user guide:

The Classic mode editor? Classic mode does not exist in PBwiki 2.0. Because we’ve improved our editor so much, PBwiki 2.0 does not have a Classic mode editor.

Calling this an improvement doesn’t quite sit well with me. I didn’t mind leaving my hands on the keyboard and using all the wiki syntax so I guess I’m not in the majority here.

Thus, I’ve installed OddMuse on my own site and I have to say, so far, I love it. The documentation is top notch, installation is a breeze, it’s actively used and developed (Emacswiki uses it) and it’s written in Perl. But the very best thing of all? You can edit it from Emacs! You don’t even need a web browser. How cool is that?

I’m still in the process of migrating my content so hang tough until that’s done. Feel free to send me any suggestions in the meantime.

UPDATE: Migration is done but comments and suggestions are welcome.
